Epic RecordsMariah Carey has released yet another new track from her upcoming album, Caution.
The slow jam track, “The Distance,” features rapper Ty Dolla $ign, and features Mariah singing about a love that endures despite people’s disapproval.
“People saying what we have is over/But the hate only made us get closer/And closer,” sings Mariah. “Said we couldn’t go the distance/Look at us, we’re going the distance/They just wanna be us/They don’t wanna see us going the distance/for life, for life.”
Thematically, the song is similar to Mariah’s previous single, “With You,” in which she sings about two people
