Candace Owens apologizes to Kanye West for Blexit t-shirt misunderstanding

ABC/Randy HolmesAfter Kanye West tweeted that his name had been used without permission to promote the anti-Democrat organization Blexit, the group’s communications director Candace Owens is apologizing.

It was reported that Kanye designed shirts for the organization, but he clarified that he does not support Blexit, which is short for “black exit from Democratic Party.”

He insisted that he’d merely “introduced Candace to the person who made the logo and they didn’t want their name on it so she used mine. I never wanted any association with Blexit. I have nothing to do with it.”

He added, “My eyes are now wide open and now realize I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in. I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative !!!”

In a personal blog, Owens wrote, “If I had to imagine what it would feel like to have a bullet pierce my heart, it would be exactly like the moment I learned Kanye told the world he felt I had used him…Kanye was completely right to feel used in that regard “

Owens stated, “I never once said that Kanye designed the t-shirts for BLEXIT.”

“I would like to publicly apologize to him for any undue stress or pain the effort to correct that rumor has caused him, his business relationships, or his family,” she continued. “He simply never designed them.”

According to its website, Blexit “is a frequency for those who have released themselves from the political orthodoxy. It is a rebellion led by Americans wishing to disrupt the simulation of fear. Blexit is a renaissance. It is our formal declaration of independence.”

Yankees re-sign Brett Gardner to 1-year deal

Allen Kee/ESPN Images(NEW YORK) — The New York Yankees announced they re-signed outfielder Brett Gardner to a 1-year deal for the 2019 season.

The deal keeps Gardner as the longest tenured Yankee. He was drafted by the team in 2005 and debuted in 2008. He went on to help the Yankees beat the Phillies in the 2009 World Series.

Gardner batted .236 last season, his lowest average since his rookie year. He began losing playing time towards the end of the season after the Yankees traded for outfielder Andrew McCutchen.

The move comes after the Yankees declined Gardner’s $12.5 million club option on his previous contract. His new deal will earn him $7.5 million, according to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand.

Megyn Kelly fallout? Kansas City nurse fired after donning blackface for Beyonce Halloween costume

Raven Varona/Parkwood/PictureGroup A Kansas City, Missouri nurse apparently took to heart TV commentator Megyn Kelly’s advice that it was “O.K.” to wear blackface for Halloween — and was immediately fired.

Shelbi Elliott-Heenan and a male friend dressed in blackface as Beyonce and JAY-Z, and she posted the photo on social media. She was quickly terminated by her employer, Saint Luke’s East Hospital, according to ABC affiliate, KMBC-TV.

The hospital issued this statement.

“On Monday afternoon, Saint Luke’s Health System became aware of a Saint Luke’s East Hospital employee who posted photos on personal social media accounts of her and another individual dressed in blackface for what appears to be a Halloween event. This information was shared with appropriate health system personnel and an investigation was initiated immediately.”

The statement continued, “While it is against Saint Luke’s policy to comment on specific personnel matters, we can confirm that this individual is no longer a Saint Luke’s employee.”

“Saint Luke’s is deeply committed to our culture of diversity and inclusion,” the statement concluded. “It is fundamental to who we are as an organization and we vigorously protect it on behalf of all our patients and employees and expect those who represent us to do the same.”

The Megyn Kelly Today show on NBC was canceled after the host said she didn’t see the problem with white people wearing blackface for Halloween.

She said, “You do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface for Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween. Back when I was a kid, that was O.K. just as long as you were dressing as a character.”

Kelly later apologized, saying, “I was wrong and I am sorry.”
