French Montana drops “No Stylist” video; posts bails for woman in New York City
Epic RecordsOn Tuesday, a day after he bailed a woman out of jail, French Montana released his “No Stylist” video, which features Drake,
Montana shot the video in his hometown of New York City, in the star-studded clip, he’s joined by Young Thug, A$AP Rocky, Slick Rick, Luka Sabbat from grown-ish, and hip-hop fashion icon Dapper Dan.
Montana, who now lives in California, was back home in New York this week, and during his visit, he traveled to the Bronx to post bail for a woman who didn’t have the money to do it herself. The rapper has joined the Mass Bail Out movement, which is working to end the system of cash bail that prevents many poor people from affording it.
“I got a best friend doing 75 years in jail,” Montana tells TMZ. “One of my best friend’s brothers is in the same place we just left. I just feel like it’s not a crime to be in poverty.”
“I feel like you should never be guilty until [proven] innocent,” he continues. “I feel like it should be innocent until proven guilty. So I just feel like just because you can’t afford to be out of there, don’t mean you should be in there.”
Montana says the cash bail system is unjust.
“A lot of people lose their families, jobs, kids, and all kinds of things for something that petty,” he notes. “So we want to end the whole cash bail.”
The rapper says he’s working with several organizations, including Global Citizen, to fight the cash bail system.

Cardi B defends her Fashion Week confrontation with Nick Minaj: “She kept it going”
Mickalene Thomas. Cardi B is responding to criticism for allegedly throwing her shoe at Nicki Minajlast month at the Harper’s Bazaar New York Fashion Week party.
“So many people want to say that party wasn’t the time or the place, but I’m not going to catch another artist in the grocery store or down the block,” Cardi says in the cover story of W Magazine’s art issue.
“For a while now, she’s been taking a lot of shots at me,” she says of Minaj. “I spoke to her twice before, and we came to an understanding. But she kept it going.”
The “I Like it” rapper says she finally had enough when, she claims, Minaj liked a tweet criticizing her as a mother.
“I was going to make millions off my Bruno Mars tour, and I sacrificed that to stay with my daughter,” Cardi continues. “I love my daughter. I’m a good a** f***ing mom. So for somebody that don’t have a child to like that comment?”
In addition to their daughter Kulture, Cardi’s husband, Offset, has had three other children with three different women. She says their love is constantly tested by stories of his alleged infidelity.
“Every single day there’s rumors about me and my dude. And it almost drives me crazy, because I start to believe them,” she says. “But I cannot be feeling insecure, to a point that I would drive my dude away, because these people want that to happen.”
Offset showed his love for Cardi by surprising her with an early birthday present: a brand new Lamborghini SUV. She turns 26 years old Thursday. Tonight, she’s performing on the American Music Awards, where she and Drake are tied for the most nominations — they each have eight.

Confirmed: Kanye West will meet with President Trump at the White House today
Drew Angerer/Getty ImagesJust over a week following his impromptu post-show pro-Trump speech on Saturday Night Live while wearing a MAGA hat, Kanye West will visit President Trump himself at the White House today, Tuesday.
“Kanye West is coming to the White House to have lunch with President Trump and he will also meet with Jared Kushner, according to a statement released Tuesday morning by press secretary Sarah Sanders. “Topics of discussions will include manufacturing resurgence in America, prison reform, how to prevent gang violence, and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago.”
The meeting was previously reported Monday by The New York Times but was unconfirmed at the time by the White House.
Following his SNL comments about Trump September 29, Kanye tweeted that the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, which ended slavery, should be abolished. He later explained he misspoke and said the amendment should be changed to end what he said was the prison system’s ability to use inmates as de facto slave labor.
Following the predictable backlash, Ye deactivated his Instagram and Twitter pages, which he’s done before: He returned to Instagram just one month ago after a long hiatus. He also deactivated his Twitter account in May 2017, then reactivated it in April of this year.
Kanye of course has made no secret of his support for Trump, and Thursday’s meeting won’t be the first time the two have met. West also spent a little time with the then-president elect at Trump Tower in December of 2016. Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian, has also visited the White House twice for meetings related to securing clemency for people facing life sentences for convictions on non-violent drug crimes.

Get ready to ride a pink Cadillac on the Aretha Franklin “Freeway of Love” in Detroit
Larry Busacca/WireImageA Detroit politician wants to honor the late Aretha Franklin by renaming a portion of a Michigan highway after her.
State Representative Fred Durhal III proposed that the section of highway M-10 from 8 Mile to Interstate 94, known as Lodge Freeway, be renamed the Aretha Franklin Memorial Highway, according to the Detroit Free Press. It is located near the New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit where The Queen of Soul’s late father, Rev. C.L. Franklin, served as pastor.
“The Lodge Freeway was close to her stomping grounds,” Durhall said. “Her father’s church is in my district and so she was a staple in the community. We just wanted to make sure we paid the proper tribute to her.”
He continued, “Look at her funeral and memorial service and folks came out in droves. Franklin was a source of inspiration for thousands, both with her music and her dedication to civil rights activism. She always showed so much love for our city — this is a great way to show how much the people of Detroit loved her back.”
The highway will likely be nicknamed the “Freeway of Love” in tribute to Aretha’s classic 1985 song, which earned her a Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
In the song, the Queen sings, “We goin’ ridin’ on the freeway of love, in my pink Cadillac.”
“Freeway of Love” was a theme for the funeral procession on August 31 which featured more than 100 pink Cadillacs.
Last year, the Detroit City Council designated a downtown street as Aretha Franklin Way. Following the singer’s death on August 16, the council voted to rename the Chene Park concert venue, the Aretha Louise Franklin Amphitheater.
