Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter V” debuts at number one with second-largest streaming week ever
Young Money/Republic RecordsLil Wayne is cashing in on his long awaited Tha Carter V album.
Weezy’s 13th studio album achieved the second-biggest streaming week ever for an album with 433 million streams, according to Billboard. Drake holds the record with 746 million streams for Scorpion.
Tha Carter V sold 480,000 units in its first week. Only Scorpion, with 732,000 units, and Travis Scott’s Astroworld with 537,000, sold more in its debut week this year.
Tha Carter V is Weezy’s fourth number-one album, following Tha Carter 1V in 2011, I Am Not a Human Being in 2010, and Tha Carter III in 2008. It features 23 tracks, with guest artists including Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Reginae Carter, Ashanti, Mack Maine, Travis Scott, Nivea, Sosamann, and the late XXXTentacion.
Tha Carter V was originally scheduled to drop in 2014 but was held up due to Wayne’s $51 million lawsuit against Cash Money Records for unpaid royalties. That lawsuit was finally settled in June, opening the door for the album’s release.
There was also some bad news for the Young Money CEO this weekend as at least 12 people were injured during his concert at the annual A3C Festival Sunday in Atlanta. Concertgoers reacted to an apparent “shots fired” warning from the crowd, according to police.
The New Orleans native will be featured during the halftime show of tonight’s Monday Night Football game in The Big Easy between the New Orleans Saints and the Washington Redskins.

Silence of the West: Kanye once again deletes Instagram and Twitter accounts
ABC/Randy HolmesOnce again, Kanye West’s Instagram and Twitter pages disappeared Saturday.
Yeezus deleted both accounts one week after his controversial appearance on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live. He was blasted for ending the show expressing support for President Trump.
Ye was also ripped after he tweeted that the 13th Amendment, which ended slavery, should be abolished. He later explained he misspoke and said the amendment should be changed to end the unjust prison system,
Kanye has a history of deleting his social media. He returned to Instagram one month ago after a long hiatus. West deactivated his Twitter account in May 2017, then reactivated it in April of this year.
The G.O.O.D. Music CEO had announced his new Yandi album would be released when he appeared on SNL. Now he says it is not ready, and he will complete the album when he travels to Africa in the next few weeks.

Drake cancels three more dates on Aubrey and the Three Migos tour
Republic RecordsDrake has canceled more dates on his Aubrey and the Three Migos tour.
The St. Paul, Minnesota show, which had been previously rescheduled for November 11, is canceled. The Denver show which had been postponed twice from the original July 28 date, has also been canceled. Wednesday’s concert in Salt Lake City, which had been postponed twice, has also been taken off the tour.
These are the latest in a series of problems for one of the most anticipated tours of the year.
Drake was originally scheduled to begin performances July 26 in Salt Lake City, but the kickoff was postponed. A Drake spokesperson explained at the time, “In order to deliver the high standard tour experience our fans expect and deserve, we have made the necessary decision to slightly adjust the beginning of the Aubrey and the Three Migos tour schedule.”
The tour was then scheduled to begin August 10 in Kansas City, however, that date was pushed back after Drake’s tour bus was reportedly towed away from a hotel parking lot.
The tour is scheduled to continue Monday night in Glendale, AZ, and run through November 18 in Atlanta.

Pete Davidson slams Kanye West for pro-Trump “SNL” rant
Will Heath/NBCFollowing Kanye West‘s show-ending performance on last week’s Saturday Night Live, after which he reportedly held the cast hostage as he delivered a rambling speech praising President Donald Trump, SNL castmember Pete Davidson responded during the show’s “Weekend Update” segment on Saturday.
Pandemonium erupts at Lil Wayne concert in Atlanta, injuring at least 12
Erika Goldring/Getty ImagesAt least 12 people were injured during a Lil Wayne concert in Atlanta on Sunday as concertgoers reacted to an apparent “shots fired” warning from the crowd, according to police.
Pandemonium erupted about five songs into the rapper’s set at the annual A3C Festival late Sunday as crowd members tried to flee the scene after the warning, police said.
Officers with the Atlanta Police Department said they were, “unable to locate any evidence to support claims that shots were fired.”
Most of the injuries were minor, according to the department, which is investigating the scene.
A3C Festival organizers attributed the incident to “an altercation” in a statement late Sunday, but it did not provide any additional details. There were no weapons involved, according to A3C.
“Sadly, there was an altercation tonight that ended Lil Wayne’s performance,” the statement said. “This was a very unfortunate way to end what had been an otherwise amazing week of music, friendships and connections….We love y’all.”
“There have been approximately twelve minor injuries reported to police such as ankle injuries and lacerations from attempting to jump fences,” the department said in a statement. “The event location is being cleared out by police at this time.”
The performance ended early due to the panic.
Wayne tweeted he hoped everyone was safe following the incident.
Lil Wayne closed the festival on Saturday night. Other performers on Saturday included the Wu-Tang Clan, Young M.A and The Diplomats.

Mario thinks Tinashe is “killing it” on “Dancing with the Stars”; says the show brought him a new audience
Steve Granitz/WireImageMario released his new album, Dancing Shadows, on Friday, and dancing has been a theme in his career since he competed on Dancing with the Stars ten years ago.
The “Let Me Love You” singer was partnered with Karina Smirnoff, and remained in the competition until week eight. Mario was 22 years old then, and he remembers the show definitely boosted his popularity.
“The types of fans that I gained from the show, some younger, some older…I remember I was leaving the laundromat one time, and this old white lady came out, and she was just like, ‘Hey, you’re that guy from Dancing with the Stars,’” he recalls.
“And I’m talking about, she had to be in her sixties. She was like, ‘Can I take a picture with you?’ I never had that before. It was a completely new audience.”
The singer from Baltimore has been watching the new season of Dancing with the Stars, and he’s impressed with the success of Tinashe, who’s been tied for the top spot for the last two weeks. “She killing it,” Mario says. “She’s a great dancer.”
You can tune in to see if Tinashe continues to “kill it” tonight when Dancing with the Stars airs at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Eric Reid takes a knee during national anthem upon his return to the NFL
Grant Halverson/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Eric Reid, a defensive back with the Carolina Panthers, took a knee on the field on Sunday during the national anthem before a game against the New York Giants.
The game marked Reid’s return to the NFL after an uncertain few months as a free agent which he believes were because of his continued protests against racism and police brutality.
Reid’s contract with the San Francisco 49ers expired in March and he remained unsigned until two weeks ago, when he joined the Panthers on a one-year contract.
The news of Reid rejoining the NFL came amid speculation by some fans and players that the 26-year-old had not been signed due to his activism on the field.
“I think we all know why he hasn’t received a call,” Carolina Panthers wide receiver Torrey Smith, a member of the NFL Players Coalition, said days before Reid was signed by the Panthers, echoing a suggestion previously made by others in the coalition, including Devin McCourty from the New England Patriots, and Malcolm Jenkins from the Philadelphia Eagles.
“The notion that I can be a great signing for your team for cheap, not because of my skill set but because I’ve protested systemic oppression, is ludicrous,” Reid tweeted in March.
Reid was the first to join teammate Colin Kaepernick in taking a knee during the National Anthem in 2016.
He continued his protest even after Kaepernick’s contract wasn’t renewed at the end of the 2016 season, and he and other players who followed suit have become targets of President Donald Trump, who launched an ongoing battle with the NFL in September 2017 for allowing the protests. In August of this year, Trump said that players who don’t take a knee should be “suspended without pay.”
Reid and Kaepernick filed a grievance against the NFL in May, claiming that league owners colluded to keep them from playing because of their protests on the field.
Reid said last week he wasn’t sure whether his protests for social justice would include taking a knee during the national anthem but added that he doesn’t plan on dropping his grievance against the NFL even after getting signed.
Kaepernick, who has remained unsigned, has continued to work for social justice issues, becoming a symbol of the modern civil rights movement.
On Sunday, Kaepernick tweeted his support for Reid’s protest.
“My Brother @E_Reid35, with @KSTiLLS and @iThinkIsee12, continue to take a knee against systemic oppression. They are unwavering in their conviction! #ImWithReid,” former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick tweeted on Sunday, in support of Reid.
ABC News has reached out to the NFL for a request for comment, but a call was not immediately returned.

UFC 229 descends into chaos after Khabib Nurmagomedov taps out Conor McGregor
Harry How/Getty Images(LAS VEGAS) — The fight outside the cage at UFC 229 will end up getting a lot more attention than the fight inside the ring.
Khabib Nurmagomedov tapped out UFC star Conor McGregor, who was making his return to the Octagon after an interlude in boxing, with a rear naked choke in the fourth round to defend the lightweight title. He is now 27-0 in his career and 11-0 in the UFC.
But then the show went south.
Nurmagomedov, a 30-year-old from Russia, danced around the ring following the victory, and then hurled his mouthpiece in the direction of McGregor’s trainers outside the cage. He then scaled the fence and attacked people from McGregor’s entourage sitting cageside at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, outside Las Vegas. Security officials and UFC personnel immediately jumped into the fray to try to separate Nurmagomedov from McGregor’s camp. Several police officers managed to cordon off Nurmagomedov and pull him away from the brawl.
ESPN reported Nurmagomedov exchanged punches in the crowd with Dillon Danis, a fighter who trains with McGregor, after hearing trash talk from the group.
While Nurmagomedov was outside the ring, people from the Russian fighter’s group rushed into the cage and started brawling with McGregor, who was prevented from climbing over the cage by officials.
UFC President Dana White told ESPN the Nevada State Athletic Commission is holding Nurmagomedov’s check, but paid McGregor. White also said they were turning over film to the commission.
White said three members of Nurmagomedov’s camp were arrested following the incident. In a press conference following the fight, White said McGregor refused to press charges and the men were released.
White was asked about possible punishments, to which he responded, “could be suspension — these guys need visas again to get back in the country. Big fines. It’s a big deal.” He called it “a very bad night” for the UFC.
“Nobody’s ever done that, nobody should ever do that,” White said of Nurmagomedov jumping into the crowd, a moment reminiscent of the November 2004 brawl at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn, Michigan, between the NBA’s Pistons and Pacers.
White told ESPN he had spoken to McGregor in the locker room following the fight.
“He said, ‘I don’t care about all of this.’ Obviously he’s upset about losing the fight,” White said.
Nurmagomedov made a very short appearance at a press conference following the event, almost three hours after the fight ended. He did not take questions, but did apologize to the city and fans.
“Why people still talking about this?” he said. “My father teach me respect. … This is a respect sport, not a trash talking sport.”
The two fighters have a violent history already marred by criminal proceedings.
A warrant was put out for McGregor’s arrest after a wild scene at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 5. The 30-year-old champion tried to confront Nurmagomedov at a press event, and hurled a metal gate at the bus the fighter was in. The window was shattered and several fighters inside, though not Nurmagomedov, were injured.
McGregor surrendered to police in June and was charged with three counts of assault, criminal mischief, menacing and reckless endangerment. He pleaded guilty and was ordered to perform community service and attend anger management classes.
The fight on Saturday was McGregor’s first since November 2016. In the interim he fought Floyd Mayweather in a much-hyped boxing match, which he lost.
