Kanye West talks God, fatherhood and running for president in new ABC News interview
“A Conversation with Ye: Linsey Davis Reporting,” a half-hour ABC News Live special, airs at 8:30 p.m. ET and streams later on Hulu.
In the chat, Kanye West opens up about many topics, from his relationship with ex-wife Kim Kardashian to his relationship with God.
And yes, he wants to run for president again.
While Ye admits he’s sorry for causing Kim stress after their split, he shared, “As a dad and as a Christian. And I have a right to have a voice on what my kids are wearing, what they’re watching, what they’re eating. I have a platform where I get to say what so many dads can’t say out loud.”
Ye and Kim, who are in the midst of a divorce, share four children: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.
“I’m their dad. It has to be co-parenting. It’s not up to only the woman. Like, men have a choice also. Men’s voices matter,” he said.
West also talked about his Simi Valley, California private school, re-branded The Donda Academy in honor of his late mother.
“So many schools are made to set kids up for industries that don’t even matter anymore,” Ye said, whereas Donda Academy focuses on “practical” classes like engineering, computer programming and farming. The curriculum could “actually turn your kids into, like, geniuses,” he expresses.
Faith is also part of the curriculum. “When you remove the love and fear of God, you open up the love and fear of everything else,” West says. “It’s easier to control the people if people are not controlled by God…”
He says of his higher power, “He’s got my back.”
Following his 2020 run for the White House, Ye said he “absolutely” plans to run for president again but did not specify when.

Tiffany Haddish says she “lost everything” following molestation lawsuit
Tiffany Haddish is facing employment issues.
While at Los Angeles’ LAX airport Wednesday, TMZ caught up with the 42-year-old comedian and actress and asked about the aftermath of being accused of molestation and if its affected her career.
“Oh, I lost everything, all my gigs gone. Everything gone,” Haddish replied. “I don’t know, bro…I don’t have no jobs.”
The statement comes just one day after the news that one of the two people who accused Haddish and Aries Spears of child molestation have reportedly withdrawn their lawsuit against the stars. The celebrity comics were accused of hiring two then-children to appear in a past Funny or Die sketch called “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes.”
The two plaintiffs in the withdrawn suit, identified as Jane Doe, 22, and her now-14-year-old brother, John Doe, were respectively 14 and 7 years old at the time they were paid by family friend of Haddish’s to appear in the sketch, the suit alleged. One scene reportedly had the female eating a hero sandwich while moaning and simulating sex acts she was coached to perform; the other had the boy playing and bathing as Spears’ character leered and interacted with him suggestively.
In a statement to TMZ on Tuesday, Jane Doe noted, “My family and I have known Tiffany Haddish for many years – and we now know that she would never harm me or my brother or help anyone else do anything that could harm us.”
Doe concluded, “We wish Tiffany the best and are glad that we can all put this behind us.”

After three decades of hitmaking, Grammy winner Jermaine Dupri feels underappreciated
Despite writing and producing numerous hits for Mariah Carey, Usher, Jay-Z and many more stars, Grammy winner Jermaine Dupri feels underappreciated.
As the Songwriters Hall of Fame member looks back at his three-decade career, he says he is especially upset that Usher’s 2004 Confessions album has not received the credit he feels it deserves.
Dupri, who turns 50 on September 23, served as executive producer on the project and produced six of the songs. The album has sold over 10 million copies worldwide, and Dupri is still mad that Rolling Stone did not list it among the greatest albums of all time.
“I feel like that affects me,” Dupri tells Variety. “Usher didn’t win album of the year at the Grammys. You make an album that big and people act like it’s not that big, so for me, I feel like that’s why I’m the most challenged.”
This week, Jermaine and Usher are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 43-year-old singer’s seven-times Platinum second album, My Way, which Dupri also executive produced. Now they are in the studio recording Usher’s ninth album.
Next year, JD will celebrate the 30th anniversary of his So So Def Recordings, the label that launched the careers of Xscape, Bow Wow, Kriss Kross and more.
Now his goal is to create a classic that will make history.
“The only thing I’m thinking about is, when Quincy Jones turned 50 he made Thriller. That’s the only thing that matters to me,” Dupri says. “I’m trying to figure out what’s going to be my Thriller.”
