Report: Rihanna declined offer to headline Super Bowl halftime show in support of Colin Kaepernick

Getty Images via ABCRihanna was reportedly asked to headline next year’s Super Bowl halftime show, but she declined the offer in order to show support for Colin Kaepernick.

“The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta,” a source tells Us Weekly. “They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance.”

This year, the NFL adopted a new policy requiring players to stand, not kneel in protest, during the national anthem.

Following Rihanna’s refusal, Maroon 5 has reportedly accepted the NFL’s invitation to headline the Super Bowl 53 halftime show
